Visiting the Crime Scene

Case Officer Evidence # Task Summary
1242 Sgt. Knight 1 Visit the crime scene to better understand the murder

The murder, or at least the body dump, was witnessed by a lady walking a dog. Her statement can be read here: Dog Walker's Statement

The body site is far too public a place if you wanted to hide a body, so it must also be the crime scene (the place where the murder happened).

It is possible that the victim was travelling by train at the time of his death, but there are several questions which need answering;

  • Is it possible for the body to have landed where it did if it was thrown from a train?
  • Is there any physical evidence that the body was brought by car (e.g. blood trail, tyre tracks)?
  • Does the dog walker’s statement make logical sense? She is quite old, so perhaps her memory is poor?

Each group must;

  • Take a copy of the dog walker’s statement with you to check out
  • Photograph the scene and any important details you spot
  • Decide on your theory about the most likely way that the body arrived at the scene

Each investigator must;

Start an Event/ Visit Log sheet from your case file. For now, these are just notes to assist your investigation – the full sheet can be completed when we have more time

Investigators must not go past the green fence! Railway lines are very dangerous places, as the victim would probably tell us, were he alive!
