You have exactly 10 minutes to learn as much as you can from the evidence which was taken from the victim’s body. You must work quickly and as a team as you don’t have much time; perhaps different people could be given different jobs.

Don’t concentrate on any one item for too long in case you miss something important about another item due to lack of time. If you gather a good record of the evidence, you can come back to this record as much as you need.

The evidence includes:

• A train ticket
• His jacket
• His cap
• A letter

Each group must;

• Look carefully at each piece of evidence
• Take photographs of any detail of interest
• Recover any small samples for later analysis

Each investigator must;

• Start an Evidence Log sheet from your case file. For now, this are just notes to assist your investigation – the full sheet can be completed when we have more time

The knife is with the coroner to determine whether it was the cause of death.
