The victim's train ticket

Case Officer Evidence # Task Summary
1242 Sgt. Knight 4 Use the train ticket found with the body to establish more detail about the crime

A train ticket (image below) was found in the top pocket of the victim’s jacket and it indicates that he was intending to travel between Exeter St. Davids and Whimple stations at some point on Friday.

It is possible that the victim was travelling by train at the time of his death.

Use your knowledge of the crime so far and the National Rail Enquiries website (www.nationalrail.co.uk) to find out which train he may have been travelling on.

Don’t worry if the website won’t let you check trains from last Friday; they are the same every week, so use this Friday’s date.

The statement made by the witness who found the body will be useful in establishing a timeline

When you have worked out which train the victim may have been travelling on...

Each group must;

  • Email their findings to sgt.knight@csibroadclyst.co.uk so that he can check the station CCTV to try and work out where he came from
  • Include your Group Number and the word ‘Ticket’ in the email’s subject line
  • Explain what you have found out and how you know it

Each investigator must;

  • Start an Evidence Log sheet from your case file. For now, this is just notes to assist your investigation – the full sheet can be completed when we have more time
